Non-football related. My phone has been stolen so I apologize in advance if you have been calling/texting with lineup questions. I'm also locked out of my Twitter, my main social media, account so it might just be me and the Facebook crowd for awhile. Also, while I'm here, the radio show will be back some time this month, and possibly as early as this week. Anyway, let's get to it!
Week 1 is in the books! Let's recap. Denver- Carolina: C.J. Anderson was my no. 11 rb coming into the season and so far so good. You could argue I should've had him higher based on his performance, 29 in ppr. In other news, Kelvin Benjamin's snap count doesn't seem to hold him back so far making him a nice bargain based on where you drafted him if he keeps up this pace. Cam Newton may have just moved into match up proof land. The Denver passing attack is not going to be what it was just two years ago, but things should be okay, and based on where you drafted DT, WR2, you should get solid return on investment. TB-ATL: I've been calling the Winston breakout season all off season and now it's coming into fuition. Kudos if you drafted Winston, probably as a QB2, but I am letting you know now this is legit and feel free to trade your started, esp if you're the Keenan Allen owner. With the Winston breakout, comes the Mike Evans one too. If you have the two, this year will be fun. Matt Ryan was the beneficiary of a nice match up, but I still think he will be better then what people expect. Top 12 the last three of four years. Consider last year and somewhere in between this past weeks game as what Ryan really is. GB-JAX: Sort of a high scoring game, but still all the stars I predicted to fall off this year under performed. Jordy Nelson had less than 16 in a ppr, Lacy was effective but not used that much causing a poor fantasy performance. Bortles had less then 20 in a 6 point passing league. Robinson was okay, but for the score of the game, I'd say from a fantasy perspective this was a disappointment. SD-KC: Keenan Allen goes down again. We'll preview some WR waiver wire targets toward the bottom of the column if you had Allen. With the injury, expect Rivers to regress. Look towards the waiver wire (waiver wire column coming later today). I feel as though the WR1 for the Chargers will now change from week to week, but expect Travis Benjamin to get the first crack. As long as Charles is out, continue to start Ware. Very rare a talented player gets a heavy workload. Usually it's one or the other. Enjoy it while you can then ship Ware to the Charles owner. OAK-NO: All the Fleener hype is on the back burner. In a game where Brees threw for 400 yards, Fleener did nothing. On the other side of the coin, my prediction of Cooks making the jump to elite is so far,so good. D. Carr was able to take advantage of a very nice match up. though two 2 pt conversions bailed him out, Carr is a match up based starter moving forward, but good enough to sustain Cooper, who had over a 100 yards though in such a high scoring game, you would have liked to have seen a TD. CIN-NY: Decker scores again. Always seems to catch double digit TDs in a season. Forte, my bust, proved me wrong, but in fairness I did recognize that he finished top 10 last year missing three games. Big shout out to A.J. Green, someone I traded Odell Beckham straight up for, and people looked at me crazy. This is going to be a big year from Green. He is literally all Dalton has, and you saw it this past week where Green made Revis Island look like a tropical vacation. Cle-Phi: Wentz might be legit. Based on where you drafted Jordan Matthews, he might be the steal of your draft. Ryan Matthews looked good on the ground and will continue to as long as he stays healthy. With RG3 going on IR, Duke Johnson and Gary Barnidge are elevated, but I'm staying away from the WR's until Gordon is back. Mia-Sea: Thomas Rawls is the RB in Seattle you want. I didn't believe the Michael hype (again) and you shouldn't have. Rawls is being eased in, but I expect by week 4, Rawls to get the Marshawn Lynch workload he had last year before being injured. Foster looked good for Miami esp in the passing game which will make him viable in ppr formats. In standard, stay away from this run game. NY-DAL: Odell Beckham might slump this year. I'm calling it first. Shephard and a healthy Cruz (finallly), Beckham doesn't have to be super man anymore. Plus Jennings looked good on the ground. Expect Eli to have a top 12 season, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Beckham finish toward the bottom of the top 12 at his position either. DET-IND: Andrew Luck is back. Dwayne Allen is good now without Fleener. That is all. M. Stafford looked more impressive, and it finally seems like he's figured out how to play without Megatron. Riddick, if not already picked up, needs to be owned in all leagues esp ppr. He's the guy. Ari-Ne: No Brady, no problem. Everyone on the Patriots offense will be fine until Brady comes back. Arizona's wr's are going to be tricky to predict this year, but I expect Fitzgerald to dominate early on until Brown is healthy and Floyd can beat the opposing team's no.1 DB. An explanation of Fitzgerald's performance can very well be he was up against the defense no. 3 DB. Which means team don't see Fitz as the no. 1 anymore. Then again, Fitz could just be aging like wine. Pit-Was: I don't want anyone from the Washington run game except Thompson in a deep ppr league. I'll take D Jack as a WR3 and I'm not starting Cousins until he shows me something. The Steelers offense is not taking a step back, and if you're the Keenan Allen owner, the first guy I'm targeting off waivers is Eli Rogers. LA:SF: Gurley might be in trouble here, but it was just one game so we will wait and see. Nice first game for Chip and the niners. Hyde is a must start. I might kick the tires on T. Smith this week too. Waiver wire replacements for P. Rivers: M. Ryan, B. Gabbert Waiver wire replacements for K. Allen: E. Rogers, T. Benjamin The radio show is coming back in the next two weeks, if not this week. Stay tuned.
